Welcome to our blog!

I started baking in the kitchen with my mother when I was 2 years old and now my son has been baking with me since he was 2. Our first recipe we created together was a lemon raspberry coffee cake. We quickly graduated to pasta, pizza and smoothies. My son, Alexander is now 4 and more adept at using a peeler than a pencil.

We have created this blog to share all of our recipes with you. Our foremost concern in creating the recipes healthier is by cutting down on sugar. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes while I was pregnant. Thankfully after my son was born my blood sugar returned to normal, but I am at a greater risk for diabetes and so is Alexander.

After spending over a decade experimenting with recipes as a professional pastry chef before my son was even born, I have found that many recipes call for much more sugar than necessary. I have literally taken out half the sugar in some recipes and the recipe still worked without the taste suffering.

In striving for a healthier lifestyle we also cook almost everything from scratch eliminating processed food and we have even ventured into growing our own herbs in our one bedroom New York City apartment with a kitchen the size of a closet. (The picture of the basil above is  from the planter on our windowsill.) Not everyone has time for this, but I hope we will provide you with enough simple easy recipes that you will cook more with your children. That’s not to say that this blog is only for parents, the recipes are for everyone.

      1. Thank you for checking it out! I will certainly start working on passion fruit for you. Basil Pesto is next, then a request for gingerbread and then Irish Soda Bread for St. Patrick’s Day. I’ll try to get a lemon mango cake with passion fruit curd in time for Easter.
